MFIC › Sectors & industries
Sectors & industries
Every sector and theme covered by Indian mutual funds, with the actively managed schemes, the index funds and ETFs, and the NSE index for that sector. Returns are medians from AMFI NAVs as of 27 Oct 2026.
Portfolio holdings: not connected. MFIC does not yet read each fund house's monthly portfolio, so it cannot show which stocks these schemes own, how much of each scheme is actually in this sector, or how much they overlap with your diversified funds. Schemes are grouped by the sector or theme in their name; check the latest factsheet for current holdings.

Medians, not averages, so one unusual scheme does not move the figure. Index returns are from an index fund or ETF tracking the index (after its costs). Open a sector for scheme-level returns, risk, cost and the latest NSE level and valuation.
Questions
- What is the difference between a sector fund and a thematic fund?
- A sector fund invests in one industry, such as banking or pharma. A thematic fund follows a broader idea that spans several industries, such as consumption or manufacturing. SEBI places both in the Sectoral/Thematic category, which must keep at least 80% in the stated sector or theme.
- How does MFIC decide which sector a scheme belongs to?
- From the sector or theme named in the scheme name, so a "Banking & Financial Services Fund" and a "Nifty Bank ETF" both appear under Banking & financial services. It is MFIC's own grouping and is not a check of each scheme's holdings.
