Questions
- Why does a mutual fund's TER change?
- SEBI sets maximum TER limits that fall as a scheme's assets grow, so fund houses revise TER as AUM crosses slabs, and may also change it within the limit. Fund houses must notify investors before an increase in TER. MFIC reads the daily TER disclosed on AMFI's website.
- Does a change in TER affect my returns?
- TER is deducted from the scheme's assets every day, so the NAV and the returns shown are already after TER. A lower TER leaves more of the portfolio's return with investors; it is one factor among several, alongside the scheme's mandate, risk and consistency.
- What does a riskometer change mean?
- The riskometer is a SEBI label of a scheme's potential risk, from Low to Very High, reviewed monthly from its portfolio. A change reflects what the scheme holds; it is not a forecast of returns.
- Where do the fund manager changes come from?
- From each scheme's Summary Document published via AMFI: the "managing since" date of each listed manager, and changes MFIC sees in the listed names between two monthly reads. The fund house's addenda are the official notice.
