Questions
- What is the Nifty 50 P/E ratio today?
- NSE's published P/E for the Nifty 50 was 19.19 at the close on 1 Oct 2026, with a P/B of 2.75 and a dividend yield of 1.23%.
- Is a high P/E good or bad?
- Neither on its own. A higher P/E means investors are paying more for each rupee of past earnings, which can reflect expectations of faster growth or lower interest rates. In many markets higher starting valuations have been followed by lower long-run returns on average, but the link is loose, especially over one or two years.
- Why is the Nifty P/E different from what some websites show?
- NSE changed its method in April 2021 to use consolidated earnings where available, which lowered the published P/E, and different sources use standalone or consolidated, trailing or forward earnings. This page shows NSE's own published figure for each day.
