- India VIX closed at 14.46 on 1 Oct 2026 (NSE). Over the past 12 months it ranged from 9.15 to 27.89.
- What does a high India VIX mean?
- A higher VIX means option prices imply bigger expected swings in the Nifty 50 over the next month. It usually rises when markets fall sharply and eases in calmer periods. It does not say which way the market will move.
- How is India VIX calculated?
- NSE calculates it from the order book of near- and next-month Nifty 50 options, using a method based on the CBOE VIX, and expresses it as an annualised percentage.
